In any profession that takes itself seriously, being accurate with your facts isn’t a matter of choice--it's a necessity. And when it comes to reporting and writing about automotive topics, one mistake (even one misplaced hyphen) can smudge one’s professional integrity.
That’s why tools of the trade like style guides, reference books and automotive dictionaries are so useful for what we do here at Top Gear. Now, thanks to a new app, it's now so much easier to access proper motoring information.
Veloce Publishing, a publisher of automotive books for two decades, has just released an app version of its motoring bible: Automotive A-Z (Lane's Complete Dictionary of Automotive Terms). This was done through Veloce Publishing’s e-book website, Veloce Digital.
After downloading the app on your Apple, Android, Windows or Amazon device, you can browse over 13,000 automotive terms even with no Internet connection. You can also search for a definition quickly using key terms.
Other features include a "Term of the Day" section, a favorites list, and the option of selecting related definitions of the term you’re currently viewing.
Avoiding automotive ignorance costs $0.99 on Apple's App Store, and a mere P50.13 on Google's Google Play. The people at Veloce Digital were kind enough to furnish us a review copy of the app, and from what we’ve seen, it contains pretty much anything we've searched for.
If you’re any sort of gearhead, car nut, or just someone who likes to know the correct terms, this app should be on your smartphone.
Oh, yeah...you're welcome.
