You’ve probably seen motorcycles made out of lighters, a hobby people have been engaging in for decades. But what about cars?
If there’s one thing this pandemic has done, it’s given a lot of bored craftsmen plenty of time at home to build things. Among them is Indonesian YouTuber Ank Creative, who has been uploading videos showing how to build model cars out of lighters for the past several months. Like many of us, his fascination started with lighter-based motorcycles, but his recent videos are simply next level.
Making a Toyota Corolla using Gas Lighters
This one in particular has caught our eye. Here he carves a ’70s Toyota Corolla, complete with bulging fender flares and wing mirrors, cutting, shaping, and assembling it out of the thin plastic panels and tiny metal bits from discarded disposable lighters. He also shows the measurements and his techniques in detail, using simple knives, files, and a battery-powered dremel tool.
Making an L300 using Gas Lighters
His YouTube channel is full of these hidden gems. His most popular is the Mitsubishi L300 fabrication video above. But his other videos deserve some love, too, including his Kijang (Tamaraw) build, and his Hot Rod and Optimus Prime builds, which involve some inspired modeling techniques.
Feel free to check out the rest of his videos, and to check out the finished builds on his Instagram page.
