Heads up, smartwatch lovers: Electronics and fitness company Fitbit has released Fitbit Sense. This new smartwatch comes equipped with an EDA sensor that measures electrodermal activity responses, along with the fitness and smart features of other Fitbit models like GPS, automatic activity tracking, cardio fitness level and score, and advanced sleep tools.
With Sense’s new EDA sensor, you can use an EDA scan app to place your palm over the face of the device and detect small electrical changes in the sweat level of the skin. The measurements can help you understand the body’s response to stressors so you can manage your stress levels.
Also available here is Fitbit’s Stress Management Score that will calculate how your body is responding to stress based on heart rate, sleep, and activity level data. The Sense, too, is the company’s first device with an ECG app that will be able to assess heart rhythm for signs of arterial fibrillation.
The new smartwatch, which is water-resistant up to 50 meters, is made from aerospace-grade aluminum and stainless steel for a polished look, making it physically and visually lightweight. The Sense also features a larger AMOLED display that integrates an ambient light sensor that automatically dims the screen.
“We are breaking new ground with our wearables, helping you better understand and manage your stress and heart health, and pulling your key health metrics together in a simple and digestible way to track things like skin temperature, heart rate variability, and SpO2 so you can see how it’s all connected,” says James Park, Fitbit CEO and cofounder.
It has been months since we were restricted from driving out for leisure, whether to go on road trips or just enjoy getting behind the wheel without worrying about face masks and face shields. For now, we’ll have to find our own ways to cope during this pandemic, and maybe a smartwatch to help you manage stress is a good idea.
The Fitbit Sense is priced at P19,490 and comes in carbon, graphite stainless steel and lunar white, and soft gold stainless steel. You can pre-order on Fitbit.com and select online retailers. Units will be available later this 2020.
