Pedal feel and driving comfort? Who needs them when you’re rocking a pair of sneakers as neat as the Initial D Nike Dunks we featured a few days ago? Judging by the reception it received on social media, many of you agree.
If, like us, you were ready to throw money at no-brainer* for a pair, we have some good news for you: It appears the sneaker customizer is making moves to bring the concept to sale.

The brand recently posted the update on Instagram, saying ‘Project D’ was “coming soon” with a potential September 2022 release date. The image shown with the announcement features the sneaker in an Akira-style movie poster. You know, the iconic one with Shotaro Kaneda walking toward his popping red cyberpunk motorcycle.
Granted, you aren’t going to find these pairs at your local Nike store if ever they do come out. Keep in mind this isn’t an official release from the Oregon-based shoe company.
No price yet, by the way. Regardless, we reckon Initial D fans are waiting to get their hands on these shoes as soon as they become available. Would you drive in these, or would you strictly reserve them for showing off at car meets?
