There’s a first time for everything. Fender benders, spilled drinks, and maintenance hiccups—they’re all bound to happen to a newbie car owner at one point or another, and what’s important is knowing how to deal with them.
When it comes to your first traffic violation, the routine is relatively simple. Stay calm, cooperate with the apprehending officer, and be on your merry way following a short delay. Settling the fine that comes with it, however, takes a little more work.
Below you’ll find everything you need to know about settling traffic violations and their corresponding fines with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).
*Note: This guide only covers the ins and outs of settling with the MMDA. If you are caught committing a violation outside the agency’s jurisdiction, you will need to deal with the local government unit’s processes.
