Honda Philippines (HPI) hit the local AT market with a one-two punch on September 21 by launching the ADV 150 alongside the Genio, seeking to change the game from two different sides. The 2020 ADV 150 beckons to rugged urban adventurers, while the Genio gives a flirty wink to both beginner riders and the fast-growing lady-rider market.

While the new ADV 150 does look cool and ready to take on our challenging roads, the Genio has an entirely different mission. In all honesty, we felt the latter did not get as much media attention as the former during the launch. It was only after the dust had settled that people realized the Genio deserves not only equal billing with the ADV 150, but also a second look.

Now, the Genio is getting a lot more attention thanks to its style, focus on safety and fuel economy, and of course, its celebrity endorser: Honda’s newest brand ambassadress, Yassi Pressman. According to HPI president Susumu Mitsuishi, Pressman was chosen because “she personifies what the all-new Genio is all about: chic and fashionable.”

Priced at P72,900, the Genio comes with features that are aimed at improving the Filipina commuter’s quality of life in several different ways. Smooth and efficient power delivery comes courtesy of Honda’s Enhanced Smart Power technology. A digital instrument panel with an eco indicator makes the scooter easier to use, while visibility is enhanced by the LED headlight. A secure key shutter with seat opener provides both security and convenience, a U-box with a 14-liter capacity makes running errands easier, and a combi-brake system ensures safety and riding confidence. There’s even a power charger available so on-the-go users can charge their devices as they ride and keep up with today’s fast-paced lifestyle.

The Genio is powered by a 110cc air-cooled PGM-FI engine that is capable of 8.89hp and 9.30Nm of torque, and has a claimed fuel efficiency of 59.1km/L. And with modern Filipinas as the target audience, Honda has made sure that this scooter’s proportions are just right for the average Filipina body frame. Its light weight and easy handling nature also provide for a safe and stress-free riding experience.

Even if you aren’t a lady rider, the Genio looks like a promising option for daily use if style and convenience are at the top of your list. Interested? Check it out at Honda dealerships starting December 2019, just in time for Christmas.
