Small-displacement scooters here in the Philippines are a dime a dozen. From the lesser-known motorcycle brands to the biggest industry players, there’s a slew of two-wheelers with small engines to choose from.
But when you narrow it down to the maxi-scooter-like offerings, the list gets really thin. One of the newest models that somehow fit in this category is the Suzuki Burgman Street.
This particular bike has grown increasingly popular since its arrival in the Philippines a while back, making a strong case as one of the best value-for-money picks in the market right now. It’s affordable, it’s fuel-efficient, and most important, it has that maxi-scooter styling that a lot of riders look for nowadays.

There’s only a single variant available in the Burgman Street range, and it’s priced at P78,900. The scooter does get a new mix of colors courtesy of the latest update. The four options are: Pearl Fresh Blue, Matte Bordeaux Red, Matte Black No. 2, and Pearl White.
Design and dimensions
The Suzuki Burgman Street measures 1,880mm long, 715mm wide, and 1,140mm tall. It has a 1,265mm wheelbase and 160mm of ground clearance. Seat height is listed at 780mm, curb weight is at 110kg, and fuel-tank capacity is at 5.6 liters. The bike sits on 12-inch front and 10-inch rear wheels both shod in tubeless tires.
The scooter bears some resemblance to its bigger sibling, the Burgman 400. Instead of two large headlamps, the Burgman Street gets one large center-mounted headlight. Signal lamps are placed separately on the fairings. A small non-adjustable windshield is also fitted up top. Unlike other maxi-scooters available on the market, the Burgman Street gets a flat floorboard.
The bike also has a sizeable seat even for pillion riders. Speaking of which, the Burgman Street has retractable footpegs and built-in grab bars for pillion riders. Lastly, there’s a large muffler with an upward design underneath.
Engine and specs
The Burgman Street is powered by an 124cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine that generates 8.58hp at 7,000rpm and 10.2Nm of torque at 5,000rpm. The fuel-injected mill is mated to a continuously variable transmission. Suzuki claims this scooter can do up to 53.5km/L.
The suspension setup is comprised of telescopic front forks and rear hydraulic shocks. A disc brake up front and drum brakes out back handle stopping power.
There aren’t a lot of added tech in the Burgman Street, but that’s expected at this price point. It doesn’t get ABS, but it does have a combi-braking system (CBS). The bike also has a fully-digital instrument cluster that displays the speedometer, the fuel gauge, dual trip meters, and an oil-change indicator.
Other amenities include a 21-liter underseat storage compartment, a two-liter lidded front glove box with an optional USB charger, and a small open cubby on the opposite side. For added convenience, two utility hooks are available. There’s a push-to-start ignition and a kill switch, and as a neat bonus, there’s a kick-starter as well. No keyless system here, though, as you still get a standard keyhole with a one-push central-locking system.
