Honda Philippines (HPI) has been continuously updating its lineup this year. One of the latest introductions is the new Honda Wave RSX unveiled at the Makina Moto Show 2022.
The Wave RSX is the latest version of the famed entry-level workhorse from Honda, and it brings along with it new tech, updated styling, and most important, an affordable price tag. But will this new underbone be able to fill the shoes of its predecessors?

Pricing
As mentioned, the Wave RSX still carries a budget-friendly price tag. It’s no longer below P50,000 like its smaller sibling, the Alpha, but it does get new fuel-injection tech that we’ll talk about later.
Two variants are available here—the disc-brake version that goes for P64,900 and the drum-brake version that has a P61,900 SRP. The former can be had exclusively in Candy Rosy Red, while options for the latter are Phantom Dark Silver Metallic and Candy Carribean Blue Sea.

Design and dimensions
The Wave RSX still sports the familiar Wave styling that we’ve seen from the underbone over the decades. There are some notable differences with this new model, though. For starters, it features a new color pattern with black accents on the front fairings and decals on the sides. Frankly, it looks a lot more stylish than the Wave 110 Alpha’s colorway with the front end sporting solid body colors and the rear end getting a plain blacked-out finish.
Another difference with the RSX is that the V-shaped signal lights on the front clip are now longer and extend a bit wider to the sides.
In terms of size, the Wave RSX measures 1,921mm long, 709mm wide, and 1,081mm tall. It has a 1,227mm wheelbase, 135mm of ground clearance, and a listed seat height of 760mm. Curb weight is 99kg for the disc-brake variant and 98kg for the drum-brake version.
The vehicle sits on 17-inch spoke wheels with 70/90-17M/C 38P and 80/90-17M/C 38P front and rear tube-type tires.
Engine and specs
The Wave RSX’s new engine is the biggest highlight here. It’s powered by a 109cc air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that now features a programmed fuel-injection system. The setup has a claimed fuel consumption of 67.8km/L based on World Motorcycle Test Cycle figures.
This powertrain is capable of 8.66hp at 7,500rpm and 8.7Nm of torque at 6,000rpm. The unit is mated to a four-speed manual transmission. Stopping power is provided by front and rear drum brakes as standard. The higher variant adds a front disc brake to the package.

Extra features
The Wave RSX doesn’t come with a lot of toys and amenities. What you get here is an analog instrument cluster with a speedometer, fuel gauge, and gear indicator. It has a rotary ignition system with a lock mechanism for the seat. Both a kick starter and an electric push-start button are available. A full chain case cover is also equipped as standard.
