In the latest episode of his YouTube vlog, ‘Kuya Kim’ Atienza paid a visit to a motorcycle restoration shop. Specifically, he dropped by the shop of BMW boxer enthusiast Kit Nicolas in Quezon City.

There, Atienza saw some of the more hard-to-find Motorrad models: a 1964 R50/2, a 1967 R60/2, and a custom R50. Nicolas also owns an R69 S worth P1.5-2 million (fully restored) for period correction, and a 1952 R51/3 said to be from his grandfather.

According to Nicolas, there’s something about old-school models that appeals to him as an avid collector: “Sabi nga nila, yung lumang bike may soul talaga eh... Iba yung feeling.”

He also showed classic accessories, including an original long seat and Hoske tank.

Asked for his advice to those who want to build vintage BMWs, Nicolas said: “Hanap kayo ng magandang unit. Wag kayong mamroblema sa parts, pwede naman akong tumulong dito. Patience talaga [ang] puhunan. Bukod sa kailangan may pang-restore ka rin, kasi hindi minamadali ang restoration eh. Para gumanda yan, it takes time.”

Before he went to the Motorrad restorer, Atienza joined a peloton bicycle ride around SM Mall of Asia in Pasay. He even offered tips on how to bike safely with a group.

In his previous vlog, the TV host rode his rare 1954 Lambretta F 125—the only one of its kind in Asia—to a friend’s dealership in Ortigas.
