It looks like we have something to look forward to. Yamaha is set to launch the new Bolt cruiser with a few yet exciting upgrades on June 18, 2020.
First introduced in the Philippines in 2016, the Yamaha Bolt instantly won the hearts of Pinoy cruiser fans with its very customizable platform. Other than that, it is powered by an air-cooled, SOHC, 60-degree, V-twin, 942cc engine with four valves per cylinder designed for excellent power and low-end torque.
However, the market’s first romance with the Bolt was cut short after Yamaha Motor Philippines decided to halt its importation a few months after.
But true love never dies, right? In June 2019, Yamaha PH revived this bobber-styled, belt-driven cruiser in the form of Bolt 950 R equipped with ABS and rear piggyback shock absorber, but is offered only with blacked-out alloy wheels that still sells for P569,000.
And on June 18 this year, Yamaha Motor Japan is set to unveil before the international market the new Bolt in two variants—the 950 R in two-tone-alloy wheels (photo below) and 950 Standard in spoked wheels (main photo).
Sorry guys, there are no significant changes as the latest version retains the V-twin mill producing 53.6hp and 80Nm of torque, along with dual-channel ABS. Nothing has changed the Bolt’s small fully digital instrument cluster and round, single-piece taillight design.
A new feature of both 2020 Bolt variants is the position light mounted on the old school-styled round headlight, while a pair of slim racing graphics on the fuel tank enhances the sporty looks of the R-spec. The Yamaha Bolt Standard will be available in the Black Metallic paint finish while the Bolt R is offered in Purplish Blue Metallic.
This proves that the Yamaha Bolt is here to stay. And we’re pretty sure it will take only a little while before Yamaha Motor Philippines will bring them to our shores. Now tell us: Are you in for the alloy or spoked wheels?
