Yamaha Motor Company Limited has unveiled the 2020 MT-03, which will likely stir up the middleweight motorcycle segment globally. Now armed with significant upgrades, this junior MT is the fourth in Yamaha’s ‘Master of Torque’ lineup that includes the MT-15, MT-07, MT-09 and MT-10. Except for the MT-03, all its four siblings are available in the Philippine market.

Known for its agile handling and spirited performance, the MT-03 is superbly light yet renders a smooth, easy-to-ride power delivery that makes it fun, exciting, and convenient to use either on traffic, clear provincial roads, or even race tracks.

First introduced in the global market in 2016, the 2020 MT-03 can be thought of as the Yamaha YZF-R3 minus the sport fairing. The MT-03 shares the engineering platform with the R3, equipped with the same liquid-cooled, DOHC, 4-valve, 321cc parallel-twin mill and other components.

The MT-03 has a special advantage in traffic. Its power plant has forged pistons and carburized connecting rods inside the DiASil cylinders that greatly reduces engine heat from the rider’s legs. Is there any other perfect ride for newbies and seasoned riders alike?

The most noticeable changes in the 2020 model include the new dual headlight that replaces the single headlamp from the previous model. This new look on the 2020 MT-03’s fascia now truly embodies ‘The Darkside of Japan’ slogan of the hyper naked series of Yamaha.

Similar to its MT-15 brother, underneath the MT-03’s twin headlights is a center-positioned round LED light that casts a bright beam forward. Adding up to its meaner, more aggressive stance are the widened shoulders of the fuel tank and sleek-looking side air scoops.

Expect improvements in road handling after Yamaha replaced the traditional telescopic fork with the new 37mm inverted KYB, which is the potent weapon of the sportier R3 in terms of superb cornering. To complete the menu, the new USD fork is paired with a street-tuned rear suspension.

The first batch of the new Yamaha MT-03 is expected to hit the European and American markets in the first quarter of 2020.

Hello, Yamaha Philippines! When will we see this gorgeous junior MT in the metal here in the Philippines?
