Finally, Yamaha Motor Philippines (YMPH) has launched its new Yamaha XSR155. The supposed unveiling of this entry level, classic-style street bike was originally scheduled to take place in May, but due to the COVID-19 outbreak, YMPH decided to reschedule the event, which is finally pushing through today.

And since big gatherings are not yet allowed due, the launch of this much-awaited neo-retro bike was done via a digital platform.

The XSR155 is the third member of the XSR family in the local market, with two of its big brothers—the XSR700 (parallel-twin engine) and the more powerful XSR900 (in-line three-cylinder)—still selling well. And they all look so identical.

This new model shares the same 155.1cc SOHC liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine as the MT-15 naked and the YZF-R15 sport bikes. The motor generates 19.3hp and 14.7Nm of torque.

The suspension setup features an inverted fork and a rear mono-shock bolted onto the same delta frame found on the MT-15. It runs on 17-inch alloy wheels equipped with front and rear disc brakes.

The classic-styled, round-shaped headlamp and taillight both use LED tech. An old-school circular gauge with a reverse LCD display houses the odometer, the trip meter, the speedo, the fuel gauge, and the average fuel-consumption readout. The fuel-tank capacity is 10 liters—same as the MT-15’s, although their tanks differ in shape and design. It is also equipped with a 6-speed gearbox assisted by a slipper clutch.

The XSR155 is available in two colors: Tech Black and Garage Grey. The price for the local market is set at P162,000.
