The new 1290 Super Adventure S is lighter than before by 1.6kg, and runs on a revised Euro 5-compliant 1,301cc V-twin engine that pumps out 160hp and 138Nm of torque. The suspension is equipped with WP Apex Semi-Active Technology, which KTM says helps the bike handle bumpy roads.
For better ergonomics, the manufacturer has added components like a 23-liter keyless-cap fuel tank and a two-tiered adjustable seat. KTM has also optimized the weight distribution, overhauled the chassis, crafted the subframe with a lower seat, and made the swingarm longer.
New on this iteration is the inclusion of adaptive cruise control and a seven-inch TFT display capable of smartphone pairing. Riders can choose from Rain, Street, Sport, Off-Road, and the optional Rally riding modes. Optional tech packages include Suspension Pro, Rally Pack, and Tech Pack.
KTM Product Manager Joachim Sauer explains: “The 1290 Super Adventure S is a sporty bike designed to offer unparalleled riding fun in any terrain. With this model, KTM enters its third generation of big travel-enduro bikes for street and gravel adventurers. Collecting feedback from the market, we focused on enhancing rider feeling and ergonomics while introducing ground-breaking advancements, such as the Adaptive Cruise Control, the KTM way.”
