KTM unleashes the new-generation 200 Duke with 'Supermoto' mode

The commuter-friendly street machine gets even hotter

The latest iteration of the entry-level bike boasts an undetectable ABS, keeping the rider in control even during sudden braking. In ‘Supermoto’ mode, the rear-wheel ABS disengages and allows the rider to show off a few daring moves—say, a power slide.

KTM’s engineers have kept the 200 Duke’s weight lighter by 9kg compared with its 390 counterpart by using a chromoly steel chassis that comes with a removable subframe and an alloy swingarm. A high-performance suspension setup from WP—made up of an inverted fork up front and a spring preload-adjustable shock at the rear—delivers what the rider needs on both short- and long-distance rides.

The ByBre brake system ensures great stopping power, and is made up of a radially mounted, four-piston caliper clamping a huge 300mm disc in front, and a 230mm disc with a floating caliper in the rear.

At the core of the 200 Duke is a Euro 4-compliant 199cc DOHC single-cylinder engine with electronic fuel-injection courtesy of Bosch. This compact, liquid-cooled powerplant is mated to a close-ratio six-speed transmission with a mechanical wet clutch system. Unfortunately, there is no assist slipper function yet for this bike.

The new KTM is currently available at select authorized dealers nationwide in Orange and White color schemes at an introductory price of P159,000.
