From this grand event that runs from March 28 to April 1, there's also the possibility that you’ll bring home exciting prizes. But here’s the catch: You need to be tech-savvy.

For the first time in the five-year history of the Partakan Festival, event organizers are requiring participants to download the Amazing Ride Challenge app using their smartphones to access the instructions and questions to earn points (We tried looking for the app in both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store and couldn't find it. Better ask the organizers about the exact app if you join). No need to spread out pesky maps and road books to guide the riders to target areas.

The challenge involves a 700km route, taking off from Clark, Pampanga on March 28 at 8am, leading to Pozo Robo Beach, Cagayan.

In promoting road safety, Aldous Rex Alingog, Ropali Motorcycles general manager, emphasized that the Amazing Ride is not a race. This means that we temporarily void the Ilocano meaning of 'partakan,' which is ‘to race.’ Competitors, who are categorized into individual or groups of five or 10, will earn points only after fulfilling the instructions coming from the event app.

Here’s a tip: Almost all the instructions lead to tourist destinations in the north. Don't rush, read them carefully before making any moves.

The route includes at least 22 towns in Tarlac, Pangasinan, Pampanga, Ilocos Sur, and Cagayan province. There will be 18 checkpoints manned by major sponsors like Shell and the Big Four Japanese motorcycle manufacturers—Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki and Kawasaki—all providing refreshments and snacks for the competitors. Six Shell service stations will also serve as pit stops.

By the way, the Amazing Ride is open not only to motorcycles but also to four-wheelers. About 500 individuals are expected to join the event.

To ensure every participant is safe and secure, Partakan officials will monitor them using GPS technology, with the coordinates of the contestants fed to a main computer.

The culmination of the Partakan Amazing Ride at Pozo Robo Beach will have activities like a Rockfest, Battle of the Bands, Bail Out Challenge, volleyball competition and bikini open. For speed trippers, you may participate in the Auto Moto challenge and flat track racing to be staged in a safe, controlled venue.

A brainchild of Alingog that only started among friends and patrons of Ropali, the number of Partakan visitors have tripled during the last five years. In 2017, more than 3,000 riders joined the event held at the scenic Anguib Beach, but the organizers transferred the venue for this year's event to Pozo Robo to accommodate more visitors.

According to Edna Cabrera of Ropali Classics, entrance for visitors is P250, inclusive of free use of tents since the hotels are reportedly fully booked by now. Interested bikers may register online at until 10am of March 28.

So riders, forget staycations and start packing your things for the Partakan Festival. Let’s go!
