Honda Philippines president Daiki Mihara has confirmed to Moto Sapiens that the company is launching eight exciting models of Honda motorcycles with engine displacements starting from 500cc and above on December 9, 2017.
Mihara made the disclosure when he attended the four-day Honda Asian Journey 2017 (HAJ) held recently in Malaysia. Around 60 dealers and journalists from the Asian region were given the opportunity to test-ride bikes around the country. It was the first time Honda PH participated in this particular international event, which started last year and was also held in Malaysia.
With the start of Honda PH’s big bike operations, Mihara says the Philippine motorcycle journalists will not only become regular fixtures of the HAJ but will also have a bigger contingent for this grand annual event to be able to learn and experience riding the brand's latest products. The company’s promotional events on big bikes will also go full throttle. Honda PH is the last of the four major Japanese motorcycle brands in the country to throw its hat into the big bike ring.
Kawasaki, Yamaha and Suzuki have been selling motorcycles with big engine displacements for several years now. Based on reports, Kawasaki holds the number one slot in terms of sales volume in this segment.
Mihara's lips are sealed as to which of the new Honda big bike models will arrive in the Philippines. "Just expect another video teaser from Honda PH in the coming weeks," he said. However, the executive assured that these eight models are among the 14 big bike models that HAJ participants rode at a racetrack in Malacca City and other areas of Malaysia covering more than 600km of roads. Of the 14 Honda big bikes, we missed taking photos of the CB500x and CB1100EX due to some pressing reasons.
On the other hand, the fourteenth bike is the current model of the Honda Gold Wing 1800, although Mihara says an all-new variant had been launched at the recent Tokyo Motor Show and is expected to be released in our market in the middle of 2018.
Now it's time to rub the top of our crystal ball. Which among these hot Honda bikes do you think will enter the Philippine market?
