Honda rolls out the 2021 PCX160 and PCX e:HEV

Honda continues to be aggressive in the growing scooter market with the unveiling of the 2021 Honda PCX160 and e:HEV.

The new PCX160 is powered by a 156ccsingle-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that generates 15.6hp at 8,500rpm and 15Nm of torque at 6,500rpm. This translates to an increase of 1hp and 1.8Nm compared to the PCX150.

The PCX160 is equipped with a new exhaust system and air intake for better fuel combustion. The cockpit sports a new LCD layout and includes the Honda Selectable Torque Control as standard. The scooter also has an additional 2.4 liters of underseat compartment room, making for a total of 30.4 liters of space.

In addition, the windshield is a few inches taller than the previous iteration, while the turn signals are now more visible in daylight thanks to a new bright yellow lens. The front side panels have also been redesigned to enhance the bike’s aggressive stance and aerodynamics.

The new PCX160 has a pair of newly-designed alloy wheels with wider 110/70 and 130/70 tires in the front and rear. Carryover features include a keyless entry system, underseat USB port, single-channel ABS upfront, and LED lights.

The new PCX e:HEV hybrid scooter, meanwhile, combines an AC electric motor (powered by a lithium battery) with a 125cc engine. It shares the same platform as the PCX160, with the motor generating 1.9hp and 4.3Nm. Combined with the 12.3hp and 12Nm of the 125cc mill, its total output ends up very similar to that of the PCX160’s.
