Kawasaki PH announces suspension of operations in Luzon

Regional office, dealerships temporarily closed until further notice

After Honda Philippines and Yamaha Motor Philippines declared a temporary suspension of their operations and activities following the declaration of an enhanced community quarantine in the entire Luzon regionKawasaki Motors Philippines (KMP) is doing the same.

“We have suspended our operations temporarily in line with the government’s directive on enhanced community quarantine placed in Luzon due to the coronavirus,” KMP’s statement reads. “Our (manufacturing) plant, regional office, and dealerships will be temporarily closed until such time quarantine has been lifted.”

KMP maintains a huge motorcycle manufacturing plant on East Service Road in Cupang, Muntinlupa City, where it employs hundreds of individuals.

Aside from recognizing the threat of coronavirus, KMP management has taken into consideration the government ban on public transportation, making it difficult for the employees to move around.

Kawasaki is one of the so-called ‘Big Four’ Japanese motorcycle companies that dominate the local sales chart; the other three are Honda, Yamaha, and Suzuki. All four companies are part of the Motorcycle Development Program Participants Association (MDPPA).
