It’s official: The much-awaited Royal Alloy scooters will soon be available after a local company was designated as the official distributor of this European brand in the Philippine market.
Exelerate Ventures managing directors Chito Santos and Brian Kitane said their company was the first to secure the official distributorship agreement from the Royal Alloy UK, and their classic-style scooters are ready to slug it out with other premium brands—Vespa and Lambretta in particular. Santos thinks that Royal Alloy will rock the premium scooter category, saying “there is no product that offers real classic features with modern technology.”
The first batch of Royal Alloy scooters, expected to arrive on Philippine shores by the first week of November, includes three models: the Grand Prix (GP) 180, the GP 300S, and the Tigara Grande (TG) 300S. Although they are almost identical in silhouette, Royal Alloy products edge out Lambretta’s offerings with their body shells, which are 95% metal. The modern Lambretta has more plastic body parts.
The GP 180 is powered by a 169cc air-cooled, two-valve single-cylinder engine that is Euro 4 compliant. Meanwhile, the GP 300S and TG 300S share the same 278cc liquid-cooled, four-valve single-cylinder powerplant that is similar to that of the popular Vespa GTS 300.
The Royal Alloy scooters boast anti-dive technology for their front suspension (double preload adjustable) and an adjustable rear shock absorber, dual Bosch ABS, and all LED lights. The GP 300S and TG 300S are fitted with high-end Pirelli tires while the GP180 uses IRC rubbers. Exelerate Ventures guarantees the availability of spare parts.
Santos is still tight-lipped about the standard retail prices of these ‘Masters of Retro.’ Stay tuned for their official launch date, which could coincide with the opening of the Royal Alloy showroom in Pasig City along C5. In the meantime, you may view the full range of models at Royal Alloy PH’s official Facebook page.
