“Better safe than sorry.” This was probably the mindset of Triumph Motorcycle Philippines when it had its Ortigas showroom staff undergo COVID-19 testing after a Triumph bike owner said he had contracted the coronavirus.

Gilbert Sy Chan of Triumph PH confirmed to Moto Sapiens that eight of their employees, himself included, volunteered to undergo testing. “We did a rapid test just this morning. Got the clearance certificates right away,” he said.

His team opted to take this measure after a rider, who claims to own a Triumph motorcycle, sent a message to his riding mates that he had tested positive for COVID-19. We’re not mentioning the name of the rider because apparently, his message was leaked on social media without his consent.

“Fellow Triumph riders: My swab test result came out this morning and unfortunately I was tested COVID positive,” the message reads. “I suggest that you have to undergo a swab test to be sure that you don’t have it. Sorry, guys!”

The staff of the Triumph showroom in Ortigas decided not to take the issue lightly, so they underwent rapid testing. Chan even showed us a copy of the medical clearance certificates.

Recently, Moto Sapiens witnessed the strict protocols being implemented by the Triumph management when we visited the brand’s Ortigas showroom to cover the unboxing of the 2020 Triumph Rocket 3 TFC. The staff implemented the mandatory protocols, from the use of hand sanitizers and face masks, to requiring visitors to fill out a form for contact-tracing purposes. “The showrooms and display/demo bikes are also regularly sanitized and disinfected,” Chan stressed.

All’s well that ends well. We’re equally glad that the Triumph employees are in the pink of health. Stay safe, guys!
