With the Red Brigade (Honda Philippines) and Team Green (Kawasaki Philippines) set to miss the upcoming 13th Inside Racing Bike Festival and Trade Show, Yamaha Motor Philippines (YMPH) is hell-bent on hogging the limelight at this year’s staging of the event. The Blue Boys are out to prove that 13 is a lucky number by making the country’s biggest motorcycle show a family affair. By this, we mean that on March 22, 2019, YMPH will present one more model to complete its famous MT family of two-wheelers.
Well, not really complete, but more on that later.
Let’s start with a head count. YMPH has been cornering the local big-bike market by introducing its awesome middleweights, the 689cc MT-07 and the 847cc MT-09, in 2016 and 2017, respectively. These models received a rousing welcome from the local riding community.
A few weeks ago, Moto Sapiens broke the news that the Japanese motorcycle brand will unleash the entry-level MT-15 street bike at the Inside Racing event this month. That leaves the MT-03 and the MT-10 as the only MT members missing in action.
Ladies and gentlemen, meet the Yamaha MT-10, the MT family’s biggest and mightiest offering that has been garnering positive reviews in the motorcycle world since its global debut at the 2015 EICMA show in Italy. Powered by a 998cc DOHC liquid-cooled, four-stroke, 16-valve in-line-four engine with a
Aside from the signature Transformers-like styling that it shares with the rest of its family members, the MT-10 boasts lots of modern electronic rider aids such as ABS, Assist & Slipper (A&S) clutch, cruise control, three engine ride modes, switchable traction control, and a Quick Shifter System. Also, Yamaha will prove that the marketing slogan ‘Master of Torque’ runs deep in the blood of every MT family member by presenting all these models in identical Ice Fluo paint jobs.
By this time, you might be wondering why we haven’t mentioned the MT-03, particularly if it will find its way here. Sorry to say it won’t because it’s exclusive to the European and Japanese markets. Our source says it’s like mission impossible for YMPH to bring the MT-03 into the country.
Now, about the price of the MT-10...sorry again, guys. We’ve tried all possible means—from beer sessions to mental torture—to squeeze out the information from our insider, but to no avail.
So, if you want to see the MT-10 as well as the other models in the MT range, come visit the 13th Inside Racing Bike Festival and Trade Show, happening from March 22 to 24, 2019. Maybe be YMPH will officially announce the bike’s price during this momentous occasion. See you there!
UPDATE (March 29, 2019): The Yamaha MT-10 is priced at P899,000.
