For those of you who rejoiced when we first featured the 2020 Yamaha TMax back in November, here’s another reason for you to jump for joy.
Six months after it was first shown to the public at the EICMA show in Milan, Yamaha is now ready to launch this hot-selling maxi-scooter to the world on May 8, 2020. The new TMax now comes in two variants: Standard and Tech Max. To live up to its name, the latter is equipped with added electronic features like cruise control, a height-adjustable windscreen, and heated grips and seat.
The 2020 TMax is not totally all-new in terms of overall styling. However, it gets a little boost in power with its new 562cc twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled, four-stroke engine that generates 47hp at 7,500rpm and 55.7Nm at 5,250rpm. These figures translate to 3.5% more power and 6% more torque compared to the 530cc model currently available in the Philippines.
The slight styling tweaks that the new model does get include the slimmer, sleeker turning lights (now visible only when viewed from the front) and T-shaped taillights that both come in LED. The redesigned rear cowl and blacked-out exhaust, meanwhile, give this scooter a sportier look.
The features that Yamaha is highlighting with this release include a large illuminated storage compartment under the seat, smart-key operation, a traction control system, integrated LED headlights, ABS, and the monotone TFT instrument panel.
The Standard variant is offered in the Matte Blueish Grey Metallic color scheme. On the other hand, the Tech Max has two color options: Matte Greenish Grey and Matte Dark Grey with gold wheels.
The TMax rider groups continue to multiply in the Philippines, so we don’t see why Yamaha Motor Philippines should hesitate to bring in the 2020 model soon after the global launch.
