Did you catch Ford v Ferrari when it came out? Well, if you did, you know the movie played up protagonist Ken Miles as an established racing driver even before getting behind the wheel of the legendary Ford GT40. Part of his reputation in real life is thanks to his time making waves with the 1965 Shelby Mustang GT350 fastback coupe.
In celebration of Miles and the GT350, the Ford is making a limited run of Heritage Edition Mustang Shelby GT350 and GT350R fastbacks, complete with the retro Wimbledon White paint job and the Guardsman Blue racing stripes of the original vehicle.
Technical upgrades include a revised chassis, improved antilock braking, suspension tuning to improve ride, stability, and handling, plus a new steering rack and recalibrated power steering.
“Looking back on it, what Ford and Carroll Shelby created back in the mid-’60s was so important to Mustang,” Jim Owens, Ford Mustang marketing manager said in a statement.
“With their authentic exterior livery, unique appointments, and performance Ken could have only dreamed of, the Mustang Shelby GT350 and GT350R Heritage Edition Package vehicles are a meaningful tribute to the legacy of the Shelby brand.”
How much for this throwback look and improvements? Just add $1,965 (around P99,580 ) to the 2020 Mustang Shelby GT350’s $60,440 (roughly P3.06 million) or GT350R’s $73,435 (about P3.72 million) price tag. Worth it?
