Clark International Speedway is encouraging people to take their drag racing antics off the street and on to a safe and controlled environment with an all-night race and fun run this weekend.

The Drag Fun Run & Tune Up Races will be held at the Clark International Speedway’s one-kilometer drag strip from 10 p.m. on July 23 to 5 a.m. the following day. There are no time slips and dial-in times during the event.

“The event is being staged as a fun yet safe alternative to the illegal drag races that are often seen on public streets on late Friday night,” said a statement from Clark Speedway’s owner and developer, Batangas Racing Circuit. “With the Drag Fun Run & Tune Up Races this Friday, we’re giving them the opportunity to race in a purpose-built drag strip where safety is a premium.”

As a safety precaution, only cars with functioning headlights will be allowed to run the track. Drivers are required to present a valid driver’s license and to don a helmet during the competition.

In line with safety considerations, floodlights will be used during the entire event. Race marshals will be present at all times to flag off drag racers and to determine winners. An ambulance staffed by trained emergency personnel will also be at the venue to tend to those who may need medical attention during the event.
