At the 2018 Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS), Isuzu Philippines Corporation opened its booth with a song-and-dance number, followed by the unveiling of the VT02 concept van. Also displayed at the Isuzu booth? A new variant of the Japanese carmaker’s popular MU-X midsize SUV.
Pictured here is the RZ4E LS AT, which is now the entry-level automatic variant in the MU-X range. As the name implies, it’s powered by Isuzu’s new Blue Power engine, which was revealed earlier this year and which also provides propulsion to the D-Max. For reference, the RZ4E is a 1.9-liter, Euro 4-compliant, in-line-four turbodiesel that puts out 148hp and 350Nm.
So, how much for this entry-level SUV? The good news is that it costs the same as its manual sibling: P1,300,000. For that price, you get LED headlamps, a touchscreen infotainment system, and alloy wheels. Available colors include Silky Pearl White, Cosmic Black Titanium Silver, Obsidian Gray, and the new Havana Brown shade. This variant essentially fills the void left by the discontinued Crosswind MPV. Our friends at Isuzu tell us that similar price point isn't a coincidence.
If you want to check out the new MU-X RZ4E, drop by PIMS at the World Trade Center in Pasay City before the show ends on October 28. Does this new midsize SUV variant tickle your fancy?
