Alongside the Rexton SUV introduced last night, SsangYong Philippines has announced the arrival of the Musso Grand pickup. It dives head-first into one of the most competitive and fast-paced segments in the local market.

The Musso Grand is equipped with an enlarged cargo bed that SsangYong says is now the widest, deepest, and longest one in its segment. It comes in three variants: a base 4x2 MT, a 4x2 AT, and the top-spec 4x4 AT.

Under the hood, all Musso Grand variants pack a 2.2L diesel engine capable of 181 horses. The top and mid AT variants, both of which feature drive mode selection, have a maximum output of 420Nm, while the base MT variant maxes out at 400Nm.

Inside, the 4x4 variant edges out the lower variants with power adjustable driver and passenger seats, and with heating and ventilation features for both front and back rows (apparently the rear perches have a heater). The higher variant is also equipped with premium brown leather seats with contrast stitchings, as well as an 8-inch infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto.

Other features exclusive to this top-of-the-line version include automatic headlamps with adjustable leveling, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, dual-zone automatic climate controls, speed-sensing power steering, and a sunroof.

Apart from the engine, the three engines share the double wishbone suspension setup and ventilated discs brakes up front, and the leaf spring suspension and solid disc brakes at the rear. All Musso Grand specs also come with second row A/C vents and power folding and adjustable side mirrors. Standard across the range are 17-inch aluminum alloy wheels.
