Meet the limited-edition Ford Ranger Thunder

Welcome, world, to the newest iteration of the Ford Ranger Thunder. Fantastic name, right? Ford has some properly cool monikers for its pickup trucks, of course—there’s the Raptors, the Super Duty King Ranches, and the old F-150 Lightning to name but a few.

Thunder was once applied to the facelifted versions of the first- and second-generation Rangers, and this third attempt will be offered as a limited-edition run with 4,500 examples for Europe.

It’s based on the Wildtrak, but with only one color choice and a host of options that now come as standard. Those include LED headlights, exclusive 18-inch wheels, leather seats, and a heap of Thunder badges to match the Sea Gray paint and the red highlights.

There’s only one choice of drivetrain, too—the 2.0-liter twin-turbo EcoBlue diesel engine that sends 210hp and 500Nm of torque to all four wheels through Ford’s 10-speed automatic gearbox.

Thankfully, Ford hasn’t slapped a massively inflated price tag on the Thunder for the sake of calling it a special edition. In the UK, the Wildtrak starts at £32,086 (P1.99 million), while the Thunder is £32,965 (P2.04 million). Plus, you get to tell everyone you drive a Thunder—every cloud and all that...
