It doesn’t look like Geely Philippines will be changing its gameplan—undercutting more established rivals by a considerable margin—any time soon. We’ve learned the pricing of its upcoming seven-seat SUV, the Okavango, ahead of launch and it looks like it will be just as affordable as the models introduced by the company before it.

Locally, the Okavango (also known as the Hao Yue) will be available in two variants. You can check out their pricing below:

2020 Geely Okavango

  1. Geely Okavango 1.5 Comfort – P1,208,000
  2. Geely Okavango 1.5 Urban – P1,328,000

Philippine units of the Okavango will come equipped with a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine and a 48V Electric Motor Synergy System, though no specific performance figures have been mentioned.

Preorders for the vehicle have already started, and there’s already an P80,000 and P90,000 introductory discount for the Okavango Comfort and Okavango Urban, respectively. The company is also throwing in three years of free preventive maintenance to sweeten the deal further.

The Okavango’s pricing slots it right in between the Azkarra and much smaller Coolray, which start at P1,438,000 and P978,000, respectively. Of the three, only the Okavango offers the versatility of seven seats, though.

If the Azkarra and Coolray are an accurate indication of the Okavango’s quality, then this might be something worth checking out—especially if you’re on a tighter budget because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Do you think the vehicle is priced fairly here in the Philippines?
