Our neighbors in Thailand have gotten first dibs on the refreshed Honda CR-V—at least in our region—and the new crossover brings with it a few aesthetic updates and some extra features.
Outside, the updated CR-V runs on more refined-looking 18-inch alloy wheels, comes available in a new Cosmic Blue Metallic exterior finish, and flaunts a revised front bumper that conveys a slightly more macho vibe compared with its predecessor. The grille also sports noticeably less chrome than before, with its central crossbar now coming in black plastic, and the vehicle gets sequential turn signals. The look is largely similar to what was released in the US market in September 2019.
There are fewer visual alterations on the inside, though the carmaker has packed in a handful of new convenience features. You’ll notice there’s a wireless smartphone charger on the central console just above the cupholders, and the rear hatch can now be opened hands-free.
In the Thai market, the Honda CR-V comes equipped with either a 2.0-liter i-VTEC four-cylinder engine capable of 152hp and 224Nm of torque, or a 1.6-liter turbodiesel with 116hp and 350Nm of torque. The former comes mated to a CVT, while the latter is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission.
No word yet on when the new CR-V will launch here in the Philippines, but its arrival in Thailand is good news for those waiting for the vehicle locally. Is this a crossover you’re eyeing at the moment?
