Jeep yet again teased its upcoming plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), the Wrangler 4xe, and we’re definitely stoked for the big reveal. It signals the start of a new era for what is arguably Jeep’s most popular nameplate, and it’s set to take on the likes of the next-generation Ford Bronco when it launches.

Unfortunately, we don’t have a lot of details yet, so we can’t tell you about what’ll be under the Wrangler 4xe’s hood. But based on the most recent teasers, there’s one thing that’ll make the 4xe different from other Wranglers: It’s quiet. “So quiet you can hear your own breath, until it takes that away too,” the newest teaser reads. Check out the short clip below.

Can you imagine hitting the trail or climbing steep, rocky terrain without having to listen to the sound of a whirring engine? Its almost eerie to think about, right? Well, we can’t say we’re all for it, but it’s definitely something we’d love to try out for ourselves.

Now, if the 4xe a bit too silent for your taste, then not to worry—we reckon Jeep will be far from phasing out the turbocharged engines and V6 powertrains that the current Wrangler brings to the table. It only just revealed a new V8-powered concept on the same day the Bronco was revealed, so it’s probably be safe to assume that the American carmaker won’t be turning its back on its internal combustion engines anytime soon.

Word on the street is this new plug-in hybrid off-roader will be unveiled in the fourth quarter of 2020. That means the industry will have busy months ahead, especially with other big launches like the Hummer EV scheduled for the second half of the year.

Anyway, what do you think of the new Jeep Wrangler 4xe? Are you looking forward to the official launch?
