A few weeks ago, Kia gave us a sneak peek at its newest vehicle, the Sonet. Now, the Korean carmaker has revealed more images of the new compact SUV, and it’s shaping up to be quite a sporty-looking vehicle.
The latest images from Kia show more of the Sonet’s details, including that signature tiger-nose grille complemented by a sporty front bumper. Aggressive-looking headlamps, stylish air intakes, and a three-dimensional ‘stepwell’ geometric grille mesh add to the front fascia’s bold appearance.
Prominent lines connect the front to the sides and the rear end. The black-outlined taillights, which are well-matched to the bulky rear bumper, are joined together by a slim black strip. The also rides on statement wheels.
Kia has also provided more photos and details of the vehicle’s interior. The cockpit is furnished with metallic, diamond-knurled air vents on the dash, and a 10.25-inch infotainment system with UVO Connected technologies. There are also steering wheel-mounted controls and different drive and traction modes included in the package.
“We are extremely excited to introduce the new Kia Sonet to the world, a compact SUV with a strong and muscular character found only in much larger vehicles. With this in mind, we have designed this SUV with a uniquely sporty attitude, a confident stance, and a dynamic silhouette,” said Kia Motors Corporation senior vice president and global design head Karim Habib. “Its uncompromising attention to detail and selection of colors and materials could have only been inspired by the great cultural heritage that our designers found all over India. We believe the Kia Sonet’s compelling character will hold major appeal for young, aspirational, and always-connected customers in India and beyond.”
Judging from these latest renders, Kia could end up making a production-version Sonet that looks even better than the concept showcased back in February. What do you make of it? Are you looking forward to seeing this new compact SUV in the metal, too?
