If you thought the Lexus RX Line was good enough already, then you’re in for quite a treat: Toyota’s luxury arm has announced that a refreshed version of the RX will hit the US market soon.

“The best-selling Lexus RX continues to be a focus for the brand’s innovation and a lasting favorite of our guests. The new 2020 model builds on the guest satisfaction and refinement this groundbreaking luxury crossover has carried since its introduction more than 20 years ago,” said Lexus group vice president and general manager David Christ.

Lexus only released one photo of the refreshed model, and by the looks of it, there won’t be any major changes to the exterior. One thing you might notice by paying a bit more attention to detail is that the signature grille has been slightly redesigned. Lexus claims each individual block in the said grille feature a different shape and angle, all of which are hand-drawn. The corners of the front bumper also sport the same design sitting above the thin, swept-back fog lamps.

Underneath, the new RX is now equipped with lighter front and rear stabilizers with hollow designs but with thicker diameters and reinforced bushings for better steering and less body roll. The re-tuned shocks and stiffer roll bars, as well as the upgraded dampers,  work together for a smoother ride.

The other noticeable changes to the new RX are with the tech it offers—as if the previous models didn’t have enough already. The standard eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system is now compatible with Android Auto—the first among Lexus’ lineup to receive the said feature—on top of the existing Apple CarPlay and Amazon Alexa integrations. Oh, and if the display isn’t enough for you, an upgrade to a high-resolution 12.3-inch split-screen multimedia display is possible. There are now also two additional USB ports—that makes six in total—and new designated phone storage which both drivers and passengers can enjoy.

In addition to these, the new Lexus App now gives an even better experience through a myriad of features, including a function to start the Lexus vehicle remotely through a smartphone. Lexus also says that an ‘active subscription’ with the app will provide a personalized view of information on the vehicle, including the Vehicle Health Report. On the other hand, if you choose to upgrade the infotainment system upgrade, you’ll also get the Dynamic Voice Command feature—a system that can now recognize millions more of phrases compared to other conventional Lexus systems.

Completing the package together with the 3-year Lexus Enform Safety Connect and 10-year Enform Service Connect are the safety and driver-assist features integrated within the Lexus Safety System+ 2.0. This system that comes as a standard includes daytime bicyclist detection, low-light pedestrian detection, and road sign assist, as well as lane tracing assist feature that works conjointly with the dynamic radar cruise control feature.

The RX can also be had with the F SPORT package, which has now been split into two, namely  Appearance and Performance—both packages sport a unique interior and exterior design. The Performance Package, however, adds in adaptive variable suspension, vehicle dynamics integrated management, sound generator, electric power steering sport steering, a moonroof, and heated and ventilated seats to the mix.

Sadly, Lexus has yet to reveal any images of the interior at the moment—we’re hoping we get to see some soon. We also have to wait for the local launch to find out the final specs of the Philippine release. Word has it that its three-row configuration, the RXL—which will be launched here in the Philippines next week—has also been given the same updates.

In any case, be sure to stay tuned. We’ll keep you guys posted.
