Maxus Philippines made its official launch into the market earlier this year. Along with its arrival, it brought in a trio of versatile MPVs in the G10, the V80 Comfort, and the V80 Flex. Building on what it has started almost a year ago, it seems the brand is planning to grow even bigger this 2020.
We have received word that the carmaker now wants in on the local pickup wars as well, and will be expanding its Philippine lineup with the Maxus T60 pickup. Maxus says that the T60 is set to be launched within the first quarter of the coming year. As proof of this, it has sent us photos of actual units of the pickup arriving on a port in Batangas.
The T60 will be entering one of the most stacked segments in the local market, and will compete with established nameplates like the Toyota Hilux, the Mitsubishi Strada, the Nissan Navara, the Isuzu D-Max, and the Ford Ranger, among others. We have no word yet on the engine options we’ll be getting here, but it could be the 136hp, 360Nm 2.8-liter turbodiesel that’s offered in other markets—we’ll give you more updates as we have it. What Maxus has confirmed as of writing is that the T60 will be offered with both manual and automatic transmissions and with 4x2 and 4x4 drivetrains.
