Subaru has now officially expanded its local lineup in the Philippines with the launch of the 2020 Subaru Forester GT Edition.
We first saw this limited-edition Subie in the metal during a media preview in Subaru’s Leng Kee dealership in Singapore back in November. Tan Chong International chairman and managing director Glenn Tan said back then that the vehicle was expected to hit the Philippine market by 2020—safe to say that he has now delivered on that promise.
“We are proud to introduce the Forester GT Edition to the Philippines. Now, the Forester looks more rugged yet refined, sophisticated and sporty. It is specially made for those who want to stand out from the crowd and defy convention,” said Tan. “With it, we are offering customers here a better line-up, better quality and value. I believe it will excite the market and drive product interest.”
In case you haven’t seen it yet, the Forester GT is basically the same as the previous Foresters underneath the metal—the only difference is it has a lot more flair to it. Under its hood is the same 2.0-liter gasoline boxer engine capable of 154hp and 196Nm and is mated to a CVT. The main changes here were made to its aesthetics.
There are stylish alloy wheels, front and rear bumper lip extensions, side skirts, and a rear roof spoiler that add to the vehicle’s sporty look. Inside, the leather seats have been stitched with a new design. There’s a new eight-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto front and center, which also serves as the display for the 360-degree-view monitor. Color options, on the other hand, include Crystal Black Pearl, Crystal White Pearl, Dark Gray Metallic, Ice Silver Metallic, Crimson Red Pearl, and Sepia Bronze Metallic.
The Forester GT is also equipped with more than 100 safety features, and comes with four hallmark Subaru core technologies: symmetrical all-wheel-drive, the signature boxer engine, the Subaru Global Platform, and, of course, EyeSight Driver Assist Technology.
The 2020 Subaru Forester 2.0i-S EyeSight GT Edition is priced at P2,120,000, making it the Forester with the heftiest price tag in the lineup. It can be ordered starting March 12, 2020.
So, what do you think? Do you like this Forester’s new look?
