Ladies and gentlemen, the long wait is over: The all-new Toyota Corolla Altis has been launched in the Philippines.
Toyota Motor Philippines has finally unveiled the all-new iteration of one of the brand’s most storied nameplates. After several weeks of speculation, we now finally get to see the much-awaited compact sedan arrive in the local market. If, like us, you’ve been longing to see more of the new Corolla in the metal, then read on.
The all-new Corolla now sports a more aggressive stance, with a strong front fascia accentuated by a large black grille. A decent amount of chrome can be seen connecting the swept-back headlamps and encasing the foglamps. It sits on either 16- or 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, the latter designed with a machined finish.
Inside, there is an abundance of leather—particularly on the dashboard and the side panels. The seats, meanwhile, are covered in either leather or fabric. Entertainment is provided by a six-speaker setup paired with a touchscreen multimedia display. There isn’t any Android Auto or Apple CarPlay compatibility here, but T-Link smartphone screen mirroring is available.
There are two engine options to choose from: a 1.6-liter Dual VVT-i in-line-four that generates 121hp and 152Nm, and a 1.8-liter hybrid powertrain with an Atkinson-cycle engine which produces at 97hp and 142Nm, helped out by a motor capable of 71hp. In total, the hybrid puts out 121hp. Both powertrains are mated to a continuously variable transmission, and a six-speed manual transmission is available with the gasoline-only engine.
If you opt to purchase the range-topping hybrid Corolla, one of the biggest bonuses you’ll be getting is the complete Toyota Safety Sense package. Its features include a pre-collision system, automatic high beam, lane-trace assist, lane-departure alert, and dynamic radar cruise control. Smart entry and a push-button start, as well as a reverse camera with clearance and rear sensors, are also available here and in the top-spec gasoline-powered Corolla. This being the case, safety features like ABS with EBD, vehicle stability control, and hill-start assist are standard across all variants.
Speaking of variants, there are five available at launch. Check out the full price list below:
*A White Pearl color option for the 1.6V CVT and the 1.8 V HV variants is available for an additional P15,000.
