Toyota is on one hell of a roll when it comes to vehicle safety. The latest version of the Japanese car manufacturer’s seven-seat MPV, the Innova, recently went through the New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries (ASEAN NCAP) crash testing and passed with flying colors.
The refreshed Innova recently drove off with a five-star safety rating following ASEAN NCAP crash tests, scoring 45.90 points for adult occupant protection, 21.51 for child occupant protection, and 15.28 points for safety assist.
These ASEAN NCAP results continue Toyota’s streak of five-star-rated offerings from the regional vehicle safety body. Earlier this month, the updated Fortuner midsize SUV and newly-introduced Corolla Cross bagged five-star safety ratings of their own.

It’s important to note that the vehicle is listed as ‘NS’ (meaning not sold) for the Philippine market as it hasn’t been launched locally yet, and that there’s no way of knowing for sure exactly what safety features will land here. If other markets are anything to go by, though, it doesn’t look like we’ll be getting tech bits like the lane departure warning system, lane keep assist, or automatic emergency braking.
The refreshed Innova was introduced to the Indonesian market last week, flaunting updated exterior aesthetics as well as some minor changes inside. No official word yet, though, regarding when we will see this new MPV here in the Philippines. Is this a car you’re looking forward to?
