The Philippine auto market has been relatively spoiled for choice since Chinese car manufacturers with some much-improved offerings began creeping into the country a couple of years ago. Not only did the influx of new brands give buyers a host of new models to choose from, it’s also caused long-established car companies to step up as well.

In terms of popularity, the seven-seat MPV is one of the top picks among growing Filipino families. Now, GAC is looking to grab its slice of the segment pie by bringing in the GN6.

Underneath the hood is a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with 170hp and 265Nm of torque, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The brand is trumpeting the vehicle’s space, too, with a second row that features a 190mm wide ‘corridor’ between two captain’s chairs. Cargo capacity, meanwhile, expands to 1,100 liters with the seats folded down.

The interior looks pretty impressive for the vehicle’s price tag, too. With the GN6, you get seven leather seats including a pair of second-row captain’s chairs, nice contrasting materials, a sunroof, and a fair amount of faux wood trim on the door panels. GAC has also packed in a nice seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

Rounding out the package is an exterior that looks like it can compete with the segment’s best, too. Clean surfaces and large windows give the vehicle a very minimalist vibe. A stylish face featuring a large grille, attractive chrome accents, and modern swept-back headlights help lend the GN6 a relatively bold on-road presence, too.

To help bring attention to its latest release, GAC is giving customers who put down a P50,000 reservation fee for the GN6 a P100,000 discount voucher that will be deducted from the vehicle’s price tag. Units also come with a five-year or 150,000km warranty, whichever comes first.

So far, we like what we see. Do you think the GAC GN6 warrants a drive out to a dealership? Let us know in the comments.
