Now this is the Hyundai that we’re sure a lot of us have been keeping tabs on this year: the facelifted Santa Fe. It took a while, but the Korean carmaker has finally given us a full, detailed look of the refreshed SUV. Needless to say, it was worth the wait.
We’ve seen the car’s exterior before, but these snazzy 20-inch wheels you see in the photos are new. These come courtesy of the new Calligraphy trim that Hyundai added atop the Santa Fe range. We’ll talk more about the variant in detail later. Let’s check out the new-look SUV’s interior first.
Here, the Santa Fe is as exquisite as it’s ever been. It gets soft-touch materials all around, including new Nappa leather padding. There’s a floating center console dividing the driver’s and passenger seats, and a 10.25-inch infotainment system sits front and center on the dash. Sound is delivered through the 630-watt, 12-speaker Harman-Kardon audio system. There’s a new multi-layered, three-dimensional instrument panel as well.
As for powertrain options, there will be two available at launch: a 191hp, 245Nm 2.5-liter nat-asp in-line-four mill and a 277hp, 421Nm 2.5-liter turbopetrol. The former is mated to an eight-speed automatic while the latter gets an eight-speed DCT. Both setups can be had with either FWD or AWD drivetrains.
Hyundai says a Smartstream 1.6-liter turbocharged hybrid setup will follow suit. This plug-in hybrid EV (PHEV) will get six-speed automatic HEV-tuned transmission and will produce a combined system output of 225hp and 264Nm of torque.
Of course, the Santa Fe also gets Hyundai’s latest SmartSense advanced driver assistance systems, and this includes features such as forward, blind-spot, parking, and rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist. Other nifty features include smart cruise control with stop and go function, plus a remote smart park assist.
As for the Calligraphy trim we mentioned earlier, this top-of-the-line variant gets added niceties such as quilted Nappa leather, a full-color heads-up display, premium door and seat accent trim, an eco-suede headliner, and expanded ambient lighting themes.
The new Santa Fe is set to go on sale in the US in the first quarter of 2021, while the PHEV will arrive later on in the year.
