Lexus showed the new IS to the world just a few months back. Now, we’ve received word that the refreshed model is almost here. In fact, the launch is already happening tomorrow, November 21, 2020, at 8pm.
We haven’t received the full specifications just yet, but we’ve been told that the upcoming sedan’s sportier look and improved styling will arrive with two engine options: a naturally-aspirated V6 and a 2.5-liter in-line-four hybrid powertrain. The former generates 300hp and 380Nm and is mated to an eight-speed automatic, while the latter gets a Lexus E-CVT intelligent transmission.
The new IS will also supposedly come with advanced safety and driver-assist tech including dynamic radar cruise control, lane-tracing assist, and a pre-collision system, depending on the variant.
The Lexus IS was born in Lexus’s new Shimoyama Technical Center Test Track, and was actually the first car to have ever rolled out from it. In case you’re wondering what that is, this is Lexus’s own advanced track that was modeled after the Nurburgring itself and is situated in Japan’s Aichi Prefecture.
That’s about all that Lexus Philippines gave us, though—no further details or official prices. But we’ll know everything soon enough. If you want to get a better glimpse of what kind of Lexus is arriving, you can check out the photos below.
