Mazda will continue to supply official parts for old-school RX-7s

More carmakers should do this

Some will tell you that hunting for car parts can be a fun, fulfilling experience. Browsing forums, visiting countless shops, meeting fellow owners and asking around—it’s all part of the experience of owning an old-school ride, you’ll be told.

Not so fun though,  is when it finally hits you: “S***, I might not be able to find this part.”

Thankfully, car manufacturers are beginning to take steps to help owners care for older models. Nissan, with its Nismo Heritage program, is one fine example. Mazda’s ‘Classic Mazda’ website is another. Now, the latter has announced that it will continue to make and supply parts for the second-and third-generation RX-7.

In a relatively discreet announcement on its Japanese website, Mazda said that 30 parts will be made available for the second-generation RX-7, while the third-gen will have 60 parts available. These may be ordered through Mazda dealerships and parts dealers, the carmaker said.

According to Mazda’s announcement, the company will continue expanding the available parts list for these two JDM classics and that more information regarding the service will be posted soon. The RX-7 is one of the most popular JDM vehicles ever produced, so there’s not a doubt in our mind that plenty of owners will be scrambling to take advantage of this.
