Here in the Philippines, the Ford Ranger has been a staple in the pickup segment for as long as we can remember. In the US market, though? It was only reintroduced in 2019. Being the truck-loving nation that it is, however, local companies were quick to throw on any and every upgrade available on the workhorse.
Roush Performance has gotten busy with Ford’s midsize truck yet again, but this time, the company has opted not to add power to the 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine, so don’t expect any extra oomph. For just $12,750 (around P620,000) on top of the standard Ranger XLT, the company will upgrade your unit’s off-road capability and aesthetics.
So, what changes are we looking at? Outside, Roush is slapping on a new grille equipped with LED light bars, custom fender badging, 18-inch Roush wheels in satin black, and custom red tow hooks.
The cabin has received a few upgrades as well. The seats are now covered in nicer premium leather, and you’ll also find serialized interior badging on the dashboard. The floor liner also comes courtesy of WeatherTech for a little extra cabin ruggedness.
What you’re really paying for here, though, is what Roush has done to the suspension. The stock setup has been ditched in favor of a tuned Fox 2.0 suspension system that has raised the vehicle’s stance for improved off-road versatility. The new wheels now also come wrapped in 32-inch Grabber all-terrain tires. There’s also a new dual-tip exhaust system which Roush claims puts out a gnarlier tone.
Capping the package off is a certificate of authenticity and custom Roush key fobs. Sure, P620,000 isn’t chump change by any means, but it may be worth it if you’re looking for an off-road-ready Ranger and can’t be bothered with rummaging through the aftermarket scene. Like it?
