The past week, Ford revealed a brand-new F-150 Raptor. Well, it turns out the outgoing one has something to say about it.
This is no ordinary Raptor. If any vastly overpowered monster truck sold from a factory can ever be considered ‘ordinary.’ Nope, this is a Hennessey VelociRaptor, meaning it’s been tuned up to 600hp.
Crucially, this one’s armored. After visiting Hennessey, the car then made its way to AddArmor, who fitted armor plating made out of a material called Dyneema—stronger than both steel and kevlar, apparently—able to withstand the might of an AK-47 or an “improvised explosive device.”
Atop that, you have sirens, an intercom, electrified door handles, a bomb-scanning system, and run-flat tires. There are bigger brakes and retuned suspension to counter the (unquoted) extra weight, but with Hennessey’s might beneath the hood, it’ll still crack 100kph in around 4sec. Perfect for that crucial getaway.
It’s relatively good value, too, at around $30,000 (P1.44 million) all in. Which, compared to the mods made to AddArmor’s Ferrari 458 Speciale, ain’t bad at all.
Thoughts?
