In June last year, German carmaker BMW held the global reveal of the second-generation X6. Exactly a year later, last June, Asian Carmakers Corporation publicly previewed the couple-like SUV during the distributor's "Ultimate Dad’s Weekend" event in Bonifacio Global City.
And now, it's official: The all-new BMW X6 is available in the Philippine market.
The Philippine-spec'd X6 is powered by a 3.0-liter TwinPower turbodiesel engine rated at 258hp, which allows the SUV to go from 0 to 100kph in less than seven seconds. The motor is mated to an eight-speed Steptronic transmission.
The exterior boasts the all-familiar BMW kidney grille, with chrome inserts and sharply drawn lines extending toward the side, giving the vehicle a sportier, tougher look. The three-dimensional LED light strips and the sleek L-shaped rear lights make the X6 stand out during nighttime drives. A new trim finish in Cerium Gray is also featured along the mirror caps, the flanks and the front underbody guard.
Inside, the new X6 is packed with premium material. The instrument panel has a 10.25-inch Control Display screen operated by BMW’s iDrive system and fitted with a navigation system. Split-folding rear seats let the X6 carry as much as 1,525L worth of cargo--75L more than the previous model.
Some of the BMW tech installed on the new X6 include the company’s EfficientDynamics Technology, dynamic stability control, adaptive brake lights, and xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive system. Other premium features include automatic tailgate operation, two-zone climate control, auto-dimming rearview mirror, and sports leather steering wheel with multifunction buttons.
Of course, the most important question: How much is it? The all-new BMW X6 carries an introductory price tag of P7.79 million. Interested? Visit your nearest BMW showroom and ask for a proper test drive. This could be your next SUV.
