Early this year, we hinted that the Suzuki Ciaz could be introduced to the Philippine market. Last night, Suzuki Philippines' automobile division general manager Shuzo Hoshikura confirmed that the subcompact car is indeed coming to our shores.

Set to compete against the likes of the Toyota Vios and the Ford Fiesta, the Ciaz has two engine options in other markets: a 1.4-liter gasoline engine rated at 91hp and 130Nm, and a smaller 1.3-liter diesel powerplant that generates 89hp and 200Nm.

Today, only three other diesel subcompact sedans are available in the country, the Hyundai Accent, the Peugeot 301 and the Volkswagen Polo Notch. Should the diesel Ciaz arrive, the segment will surely heat up.

It's been a while since we last saw a non-replacement new model from the Japanese car brand. The last one was the Ertiga, launched in July 2014. If we're talking about sedans, the last introduction was in 2012, with the Kizashi executive sedan.

While no variant and pricing details have been revealed yet, why don't we have a small group discussion here to find out which powerplant is more popular among Filipinos? Take our poll below.
