Daihatsu has built a name for itself creating cute little vehicles and quirky concepts over the years. That’s a reputation that won’t be going away for too long, at least judging by what the Japanese carmaker will be showcasing at the upcoming 2020 Tokyo Auto Salon in January.
The lineup will be highlighted by the TAFT concept car, shown in the main image above. Daihatsu calls it “the world’s first light crossover.” The vehicle’s looks are also as quirky as its name, as TAFT is an acronym that stands for ‘Tough & Almighty Fun Tool.’
The production-ready vehicle packs a 660cc three-cylinder turbopetrol engine mated to a CVT under its hood. It stretches out to proper kei-car dimensions at 3,395mm long, 1,475mm wide, and 1,630mm tall.
Other additions to the Daihatsu lineup include three concepts based on the Tanto: the Premium, the Cross Field, and the Custom Marvel Spider-Man editions. The Rocky Sport Style and the Copen GR Sports Customization will also make their way to the show floor. Lastly, completing Daihatsu’s lineup are three Hijet Truck concepts in the PEAKS, DJ, and Hatsune Miku Marche versions.
