Exclusive: Features, prices of new Hyundai Elantra, Accent and Tucson

\"New

Here they are, the official features and prices of the new (face-lifted) Hyundai Elantra, Accent and Tucson. Hyundai Asia Resources Inc. certainly has good timing in releasing this exclusively to TopGear.com.ph as Toyota Motor Philippines is set to launch the new Corolla Altis on January 15.

Let us list down the main changes to Hyundai\'s three bestsellers.

The Elantra receives a new grille, headlamps, fog lamps, front and rear bumpers, rear combination lamps, chrome beltline molding and new-design alloy wheels. The projection-type headlights now feature LED positioning lamps. The compact sedan now also has the so-called Flex Steer system, which allows the driver to select his/her preferred steering calibration (comfort, normal or sport). Ventilated seats and rear-seat air-conditioning vents complete the list of new features for the revised Elantra.

The Accent, meanwhile, now has projection-type headlights with LED positioning lamps, new 16-inch alloy wheels, power-window switch illumination, and a new folding key. More important is the shift from 1.4-liter Gamma engine with four-speed automatic transmission, to 1.4-liter Kappa engine with continuously variable transmission. The new Kappa gasoline motor, however, has less power (99hp versus the old 106hp) and torque (133Nm versus the old 136Nm).

But the biggest news about the Accent is the introduction of a diesel sedan variant. Powering this variant is the same 1.6-liter CRDi VGT diesel powerplant found under the hood of the Accent Hatchback CRDi, rated at 126hp and 260Nm. Unlike the diesel Accent hatchback, however, the diesel Accent sedan is only available with a six-speed manual transmission (the hatchback version also has a four-speed automatic gearbox). HARI does intend to bring in an Accent Sedan CRDi AT eventually, but the schedule for its arrival hasn\'t been determined.

Lastly, the Tucson has also been given some cosmetic makeover. It now has bi-function projection-type headlights with LED positioning lamps, LED-type rear combination lamps, and new-design 17-inch alloy wheels. But the most significant news about the new Tucson is the introduction of a new gasoline engine.

Gone are the previous 2.0-liter Theta II D-CVVT and 2.4-liter Theta II D-CVVT petrol powerplants. In their place is the new 2.0-liter Nu D-CVVT gasoline engine, which produces slightly lower power (156hp) and torque (192Nm) numbers compared to the outgoing 2.0-liter gasoline unit. It is paired with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission.

Now, how much do all these changes cost? If you scroll down at the bottom, you will find the complete price list of the new Elantra, Accent and Tucson. The only price missing is that of the new Accent Sedan CRDi as HARI management hasn\'t finalized it yet, although we expect to be able to report this in the next few days.

So, what do you think of these new face-lifted Hyundai models?
