Ford lets lucky buyers specify GT of their dreams

CAR BRANDS IN THIS ARTICLE

As Ford prepares to deliver the all-new GT supercar to eager customers later this year, the American car company hasn’t hidden the fact that it will only allow a handful of lucky buyers to get their hands on its newest halo model. Despite the 6,506 applications that flooded the dedicated microsite within a span of just one month, only 500 patrons will be deemed worthy to drive home the car.

As if this isn’t exclusive enough, Ford will be letting these same clients customize their GT to their liking. It begins with a lightweight canvas that is both innovative and purposeful--carbon fiber. The body panels make the car strong yet light, enhancing overall driving performance. Yet those who aren’t too keen on the exposed material’s drabness can choose from a selection of eight exterior colors, which are a nod to the brand’s racing history. One of these shades is the cool new Liquid Blue. Of course, owners can also specify whether to use gloss, matte or the chic Shadow Black. Naturally, racing stripes can likewise be added to the mix.

More customization can be done in the cabin. The carbon-fiber accents used on the instrument panel and other bits are complemented by various color options placed on the seatbacks and other interior pieces. The design scheme revolves around the philosophy of using less color on the driver’s side, while having more of it as the eye moves toward the passenger’s side. The idea is to lessen any distractions to the person behind the tiller.

The boundaries of customization are pushed even further by letting potential buyers specify even the most minute details such as brake calipers. The choose-your-color Brembo brake calipers are available for the first time as optional equipment. The powerful six-piston monobloc anodized calipers with carbon ceramic rotors can be had in either blue, orange, silver or red. These anchors are 50% lighter than their cast-iron counterparts and help achieve shorter stopping distances from silly speeds.

Apart from these, Ford allows many other configurations to be specified for its newest supercar. As cliché as it sounds, only your imagination will limit you from customizing the GT of your dreams.
