TopGear.com.ph Philippine Car News - Auto China 2014: Ford shows off revived Escort nameplate

A year after showing off the Escort Concept at the 2013 Auto China, American carmaker Ford has finally revealed the production model that it developed "with the Chinese market in mind."

"The Escort is a perfect example of how Ford's global approach can be fine-tuned to meet the needs of individual markets by listening to customer feedback," said Changan Ford Automobile president Marin Burela. "Taking Ford’s hugely successful C-car platform as a foundation, the all-new Escort puts us in a perfect position to serve Chinese customers looking for an alternative and attainable compact car."

Although no mention was made of what engine (or engines) will power the vehicle, Ford shared that this Escort's "stylish and unpretentious exterior houses a refined and roomy interior." The company also highlighted the car's Device Dock system, which integrates seamlessly with the in-car entertainment system and is "a new way to store, mount and charge devices like mobile phones, MP3 players and satellite navigation systems."
