As you might be able to tell by the name, nothing about the new Hennessey Mammoth 1000 SUV is small.
Based on the already giant Ram TRX, Hennessey’s latest creation is a seven-seat monster SUV with an additional ‘Mammoth Off-Road package’ that adds a 2.5-inch lift kit, a custom front bumper with an integrated light bar, 20-inch wheels, 35-inch off-road tires and a front suspension leveling kit. That’s on top of the new bodywork with its extended roofline and the third row of seating. Huge.
This is John Hennessey we’re talking about here too, so obviously, the TRX’s supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi V8 hasn’t been left as standard. An upgraded supercharger and an ECU remap mean there’s now 1,012hp and 1,314Nm of torque. Good grief.
There are a couple of small numbers in the press pack, to be fair. The Mammoth will now do 0-60mph (0-97kph) in a ridiculous 3.2 seconds and just 20 will be sold worldwide. Shame the price isn’t quite as tiny. It’ll set you back $375,000 (more than P18 million) before taxes. Yikes.
