For some time now, we’ve been pestering Honda Cars Philippines to let us test-drive a manual variant of its Jazz model. You see, because the buying public prefers automatic transmissions over manual gearboxes by a wide margin, most demo units offered for testing by the Japanese carmaker also don’t have a clutch pedal.
This news release from HCPI only whetted our appetite for a manual-transmission Jazz even more. It seems there’s a new Honda subcompact hatchback in town, and it’s only available in limited numbers. What HCPI did was take the Jazz with a manual gearbox, and fit it with Mugen kit.
The Honda Jazz Mugen Limited Edition has a Mugen front grille, tailgate spoiler, 17-inch alloy wheels with a wheel-nut-and-lock set, and emblem. It will retail for P908,000 and come in only two colors: Rally Red and Taffeta White. It will be displayed at select Honda showrooms starting today, November 12, with only 30 units available to the buying public.
HCPI did say customers can also choose from different Mugen accessory packages, and these can be installed in any of the current-generation Jazz hatchbacks. But there were no details on the specifics behind these Mugen packages (don’t worry, we’ll explore further).
And for buyers of the new City, they will be given a Modulo organizing kit consisting of genuine accessories. These are a Modulo trunk tray, trunk drawer, cargo hook and cargo net. These freebies are available for all City variants sold until December 31, 2014.
So, whether you get one of the few Jazz Mugen Limited Edition units (you lucky devil), or a City with the holiday organizing kit, Honda has definitely made Christmas car-shopping more fun this year.
